About Me that supported

My love of teaching stems from a lifelong love of learning and my desire to share that with others. Resultantly, I have a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and a master's degree in Management of Information Systems. Currently, I am pursuing a second master's degree in Educational Technology. I currently am employed full time as a computer instructor at a local community college. As an educator, I have experienced firsthand many students who have experienced difficulty in math and science. My focus and goal is to be a change agent in eliminating their difficulty and replacing it with a love for the learning process so that it can be duplicated in other areas. I have been tutoring for over twenty years. I started tutoring College Algebra and General Chemistry while pursuing my Chemistry undergraduate degree. I continue to tutor local junior high and high school students on an as needed basis. I specialize in tutoring math and science from elementary school through the collegiate level for continual success in school. I have specifically tutored students in Elementary Math, Prealgebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Precalculus, and Trigonometry. The ages range from around 10 years old through adult ages up to 70 years of age. These tutoring sessions have taken place mostly during one-on-one sessions. However, I have done tutoring in a classroom setting and in group settings outside the classroom. My primary focus for each session is to keep the student focused and challenged. Also during this time, they are encouraged and instructed on how to make learning fun and engaging. I hold myself to a high standard. For this very reason, I often ask for constructive feedback, and I will never bill for a lesson in which the student or parent isn't completely satisfied with my tutoring. Also, I hold all my clients to the same high standard. This is why I require a 24-hour cancellation policy. However, I do offer makeup classes. To ensure that students have a quiet and comfortable space to study, I offer to tutor students in their homes with a parent present. Additionally, if that isn't an option, then another suitable location, like a local coffee shop or public library, will be used. In essence, I am happy to travel to any location that is more convenient for the student. Thanks for taking a look at my profile! I look forward to hearing from you and assisting you in achieving continual success in your academic studies.
