My availability is very flexible so I can be on at any time that students need. I studied at the University of Michigan and received an English degree specializing in linguistics. I took a class on how to help students gain English writing skills and have experience in that area. I am confident that I can help students to learn and grow in their English language skills. I am TESOL certified and am excited to work with new students.
I have studied other languages such as Korean, Japanese, Russian, and American Sign Language and feel that if necessary I can gain more proficiency in these languages if a student would like to learn. I believe that patience is key to teaching as well as encouraging students to not be afraid of making mistakes so they can learn from them. I create a safe learning environment so students feel free to experiment and do not feel pressured to achieve more than they are capable of at the moment. I do believe in motivating students to do well, but not to cripple them with fear of failure- that is the worst thing that could happen to a student that has a desire to learn.
